Canary Islands or Canaries (Spanish; Islas Canarias), is a group of islands and autonomous region of Spain situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwestern coast of Africa. Comprising of the provinces of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Their capitals are, Las Palmas on Grand Canary and Santa Cruz de Tenerife on Tenerife Island. The main islands of the group are Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Grand Canary (Gran Canaria), Lanzarote, La Palma and Gomera. The islands are of volcanic origin.
