Moncton is a city and port in Westmorland County, south-eastern New Brunswick, Canada, and is sited on the Petitcodiac River. Moncton is a famous transportation centre and is nicknamed "The Hub of the Maritimes" because all railroad lines in the Maritime Provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island pass through Moncton. Moncton is primarily an agricultural area. Around 70% of the population speaks English as a primary language. The remaining one-third of the city's population speaks French. Moncton is Canada's first officially bilingual city.
Moncton not only has two languages but also two coastlines, firstly the rugged Fundy Coast with the highest tides in the world, and secondly the Acadian Coast with just about the warmest saltwater beaches in the north northern hemisphere.
